Stricken yet undaunted they wait patiently,
holding on by a lingering thread
Striving to endure,
knowing if nothing changes
they must finally let go
Constructed and trained for suffering
they continue their relentless vigilance
Taking barrage after barrage of emotional artillery,
they persist.
With weakening resolve they become disoriented,
teetering on the brink of sanity itself
Only then does the onslaught weaken,
and they are manipulated into the continuation of the game
They become confused, caught in a web,
the repeating pattern unremitting
They are mesmerized by the dance of the adversary,
for it has subtle grace
The opponent performs with magnificent dexterity,
for it is their diversion in which they participate
The waiting ladies do not comprehend,
their motivations being entirely dissimilar
In the confusion the antagonists
continue to spin their elegant web
Feeling entangled the ladies battle for independence,
but the silky thread remains taut
Some periodically burst free, they are the elite,
the exceptionally robust
Facing them is a vigil of strife
with demons from the dark past
Cerebral gremlins left to bend and warp their minds,
precluding any insight
Alone the strength of the waiting women will not suffice,
there's been much sabotage
Upon this realization some reach out in desperation,
aspiring to gather support
Others are doomed, forever captured by the residue
from prior exploitation
Yet some will persuade the adversaries,
winning them to their noble cause
Fortunate are those the ladies rescue,
for they have been apprehended from despair
Yet still the combined strength will not suffice
to overcome the former allies
They must find the one, the being whose message
is unconditional love
With new found acceptance, courage and wisdom,
they will discover opportunity and hope
Oh lady in waiting, you linger patiently still
Grateful am I for my rescue,
although there is so much yet to accomplish
With help from a power higher,
we may conquer our demons and grow together
Wait for me lady, for I have been given such fine tools
I will learn how to use them,
only then will your wait cease
