I used to
hear about punishment for sins
Now I see
love, it is me who punishes myself
I formerly wondered at all the suffering in the world
Now I know that, out of love,
we are given the freedom to choose for ourselves
Puzzling the autocracy of the idea
that I must revere or be condemned
I understand that I honour what I choose to
I often thought of myself as forsaken
I find out that I was never alone
My past is profuse with instances
of when I was aided in sustaining
I have come to know that,
because we are so loved we are given freedom
And because that love is so strong,
choice will never we taken away
That no matter what the bearing,
we choose our own path
There being only one correct path,
and that is through God
